View Full Version : How do you keep busy?
MRussell 01-11-2007, 04:24 AM So when you are apart from your SO, how do you keep busy?
Before DH and I were married, I worked and went to school full time, so that always kept me busy. Now that we are married and I'm SAHM, it's harder. I do lots of arts & crafts and pamper myself with spa days but most of my time I spend on the computer.
Jennifer 01-11-2007, 05:45 AM I'm the same as you Megan!
Jen G. 01-11-2007, 08:06 AM same here! I read a lot while DH is gone too. Or watch sappy romance movies after the kids go to bed :)
I read a lot, play on the computer, talk on the phone, workout. I'll do just about anything to keep myself busy.
Dawna 01-11-2007, 10:52 AM bowl, see movies, read, watch tv-surf the net & play with my kids & we go places too like Disneyland etc
I was online alot, read alot, spent time with Jerron and other family
Shannon 01-12-2007, 01:27 PM Well, I have two jobs and over-obligate myself, in terms of social occasions and volunteer-type work.
The problem with keeping yourself too busy is that it backfires when your SO *is* in town, or you have an opportunity to see each other, because suddenly everything that keeps you busy, is keeping you too busy to see them!
Stephie 01-12-2007, 01:49 PM I'm home usually. When I don't have some sort of bug up my butt to be doing something all day long then I'm usually on my computer. LOL! I like to read, watch movies or TV shows, play with Sophie (lately we've gotten into a pretty good routine) take pictures of whatever, and now I'm getting into the whole gardening thing!! LOL!!
mrsclaynizzel 02-11-2007, 12:07 AM my husband is in the army so I know he'll be away alot and since I grew up as an army brat I know how it is. But it's hard but now that we have a baby boy he keeps me busy ALL the time! hahaha...and of course my friends are always here for me!
khshep 02-11-2007, 12:11 AM I chased four children:hairout
No seriously, I get involved with the family group and almost whatever group I can to just surround myself with friends and stuff to keep me busy. Looking back on the 3 deployments I was too busy.
Green~Mammy 06-06-2007, 02:17 PM I have two boys four and one so I keep pretty busy just caring for them. I also have the house work to keep up with, cooking to do. I am starting school so all of the prep for that. I also go online and that helps.
Sophia 06-06-2007, 03:49 PM i play with the kids in the parks, rent movies, read, surf the net, when its the kids nap time its also mine so that takes up 3-4 hours of the day, and after the kiddos are in bed i take long hott bubble baths, and clean the house since i really cant during the day.

MichelleB 06-06-2007, 10:53 PM I have a 2 year old, need I say more? :lol
I also had school to focus on, and now that I am finished I will have my career. I also had a lot of great friends to keep me busy, as well as my family. Now that we moved, I need to find some hobbies and new friends :(
When we were dating and apart, I was working a full time job. So, that kept me busy and after work I had Dennis and Dominick to keep me busy and the activities they were involved in to do.
goldilockz 06-25-2007, 05:26 AM I have been playing a lot of World of Warcraft. It's great to escape into an alternate reality when it's late at night and I can't distract myself with movies or books.
StarryEyed 12-10-2007, 09:06 PM All I do is work, help with the house, and work some more. I get to talk to my DB every night so that helps with the distance. But it isnt something I focus on. I think focusing on it is harder then actully going threw an LDR.
Memories though do help. If by some wierd chance I do get a moment where I am alone and I start to feel sad I just think about the laughs we have shared. The moments that I have with him that no one can take away. Small simple things like that.
