I will know more next week .... who knows I might stay up there all of February if she needs me :dunno I will keep you guys posted.
Shannon 01-11-2008, 11:55 AM Sounds good. Let's stick to the tentative January 26th plan, and KL can update us on where she is and what's going on.
I just called the Newport Vineyard. Here is the lowdown on the tour:
The tour is approx. 1/2 hour, depending on how inquisitive we are. It goes indoors and outdoors, but minimally outdoors and you can stay on the pavement, so don't worry about shoes or heavy coats. It takes us to see the vines, the barrel room and bottling. The tour itself is followed by a wine tasting. You can try up to 5 wines at 1 oz. each. Totalling approx. one glass of wine, so you should be fine to drive, etc. You get a complimentary wine glass included in the price. The price for the tour/tasting is $7 per person.
They have tours daily at 1pm and 3pm, but they'll give a tour at other times if people are there and wanting to go. January is a pretty slow time of year, so we don't need to worry about getting there early or anything.
It's sounds pretty cool to me and the girl I spoke with on the phone was SUPER nice. :D
~*Amylynn*~ 01-11-2008, 02:03 PM it sounds great to me...I haven't been to newport vineyard yet, but it sounds like fun...i'll look for some other stuff too
Sarah_M 01-11-2008, 03:52 PM Let me check to see what time I can go it depends on if its the day my husband and I have plans that night or not. I will check once I get home though.
Sarah_M 01-12-2008, 10:11 AM Okay I checked and I can do whatever time you all want to do. The plans Brian and I have arent until Feb. LOL Im like a whole month early.
Shannon 01-12-2008, 03:07 PM I was thinking that maybe we could eat and then go to the winery. Face it with a full stomach, that is. Do you girls know the area where the winery is? Like some places we might get a bite to eat that are near by? Lunch takes like an hour max. If we met up at 11:30am and ate, we could probably get to the winery for 1pm. I've gotta check into how late I can return a rental car, but on weekends they tend to close early, so I might have to be back in north Boston by 5pm.

The winery isn't far from where we were last tim...I personally think we should go to coddington brew pub for lunch, it would be the closest :yeehaw
Sarah_M 01-12-2008, 07:14 PM Coodignton brewery sounds good to me. I havent been there yet. I know where the winnery is I have been there plenty of times =)
Shannon 01-12-2008, 07:15 PM Everyone is going to think we're drunks. A brewery followed by a winery. :lmao
Sarah_M 01-12-2008, 07:29 PM :giggle Well........................ :lol

Sarah_M 01-23-2008, 06:33 PM You guys, I'm renting the car! It's reserved!
:yahoo I am so excited! What time are we getting together? I can't wait.
Shannon 01-23-2008, 08:30 PM Well, I'm picking the car up at 8am 'cause I'm scared of getting lost or whatever. It seems really straight forward and google claims it will take me 90 minutes to get there, but somehow I have trouble trusting it. So if I show up in Newport at 9:30 rather than 11am, I might be calling!
