We mostly drink water and milk in our house because I have yet to find any decent alternative for juice type drinks that aren't LOADED with sugar. I try very hard to limit excess sugar with my kids, mostly Jaxon because he's very sensitive to it.
Anyhow, when walking through the grocery store, I kid you not, I see Capri Sun drinks in nearly EVERY SINGLE CART. So, I went and checked the sugar content on it and WOW :wow almost 30 grams of sugar in that tiny little pouch. I forget the exact amount but I think it was 24 or 25 grams. :pukey So, I pretty much wrote that one off but then discovered the "Roarin Waters" made by Capri Sun that is supposed to be mostly water, with some juice. So, I checked labels again and they're STILL 9 grams of sugar which is high, IMO, for something that tiny and it's supposed to be mostly water. On top of that, it has high fructose syrup which is basically like the base of most coke products. Needless to say, we just haven't found any juice box type drinks that are not loaded with sugar. So, I simply do not buy them.
UNTIL I discovered the new Minute Maid Fruit Falls! It's basically flavored water and they come in a variety of flavors (my absolute fav is the tropical punch) and it's got less than ONE GRAM of sugar and NO fructose syrup, 100% Daily Vitamin C plus calcium! I actually feel good about buying these for my kids b/c I know I'm not loading them up with crap. I'm sure it's not as good as plain water, but it's a great substitute for when they want a treat with lunch or something.
So, the Minute Maid Fruit Falls gets a TOTAL 2 thumbs up review from me. I highly recommend these over ALL other juice boxes. Even the 100% juice is just PACKED full of sugar. This is such a great alternative!
