Many of us have specific reasons, or circumstances, that led us to choose our path as a WAHM. If you wouldn't mind, please share your thoughts with us.

I had spent 10 years managing Medical and Dental offices. I was injured delivering my daughter and was unable to go back to work. To be honest, I truly wated to be home with her, but not as an injured Mom.

I did research into home based businesses, not just DS companies. In the end, I did find a DS company that really fit my schedule and one of my passions in life (cooking).

It has been rough at times because I do not have my husband's full support as he frowns on DS companies, saying they are all pyramid schemes - yet he happily drives to work in his new car that my business has paid for (sigh).

As my business grows, I know I have made the best decision for our family. Being able to spend almost every moment of the day with my daughter is worth more, though.

Well I was a work outside the home mom for a longggggggggggg time until last year when our son got kicked out of 2 daycare/preschools and I was forced to quit my job because obviously my hubby cant quit the Navy LOL. But I was the one that had to quit and stay home. Since I have been home I have started doing these home businesses and there was nothing else I could do from home like data entry or anything but now that I am home I love being here even though it does get boring from time to time. But the fact is we are not dishing out all that money for daycare and for gas for me to drive back and forth to work every day either. we have still been able to get alot of our bills paid off too and even some months can be a little tight we will be okay.

Tastefully Simply.... MMMMMMMM!

My first pregnancy was sort of unexpected, though I had been with my husband for years. I had an amazing job and though I wasn't ready to give it up, I wanted to be home with my kids (my husband felt the same way). I love being at home, but wanted something 'more'. I wasn't happy. I didn't want to leave the kids, but I wanted to do something that I enjoyed and that would preferably add to the household income. I tried just about everything - spent a couple of years trying out different options, but not enjoying most of them. My MIL told me about a friend of hers that did Medical Transcription. When I was in highschool, I really wanted to be a doctor. I participated in a 'take a student to work day' and tagged along with a local doctor. I'm fine with my own blood, but realized that seeing someone elses' made me faint. I lost interest, but had always been interested in the medical field. So, I decided to give it a try and have been doing it ever since. It's not for everyone, but I absolutely love it!

I started as a part-time WAHM with a full-time outside job. It was in DS to earn a little extra play money. It became full time 3 yrs ago after becoming fully disabled due to injuries stemming from a car accident in 2000. Now I not only represent some fantastic DS companies, I also own one and I love every moment of it. It still allows me to have my "bad" days physically and spend time with my family. I couldn't ask for a better path then what has been given to me in my life. The hard work is worth every moment in the end.
