I wasn't sure how many people know about this, but Dansko was actually "renting" the patent for the famous Dansko clog from this Canadian company called Sanita. Dansko had decided they should introduce this amazing clog to the US market like 10-15 years ago.
Well, their rental agreement just ended, so they can't produce the famous clog anymore. Instead, they're doing a slightly different version of it, and they're outsourcing the clogs to China. So if your Dankso clogs say "Made in China" on the inside they are the new kind, not the old. You can also tell the difference because the old clogs had a square around the Dankso name on the bottom, and the new ones don't. If you look at them side by side, you can definitely see the differences, even in the materials used to make the shoe. From a distance they look about the same, but from what one local shop owner told me, they feel different too. They're also no longer handmade, from what I understand.
Anyway, the original company with the patent on the clog is called Sanita. They're now selling the old Dansko clog under their own name now. So if you want the handmade shoes that you've always loved, you need to buy from Sanita now.
