View Full Version : How do you feel about this??
judyb 01-21-2007, 09:28 AM How do you feel about underage stars pretty much getting a slap on the wrist or nothing at all when the law is broken?
This all stems from the Lindsey Lohan thing......It is my understanding that if you are caught drinking underage or driving while intoxicated(and underage) that in almost every state you would lose your license, have to do community service and maybe a night or 2 in jail, being that she is over 18 it would be on her permanent record....and the places doing the serving would lose their liquor license. WHy do we not see this happening? Because I am sure if it was it would be int he tabloids, magazines and papers...kwim
How does it make you feel that the judicial system lets this pass and all the while our kids see it and think that hey, maybe it is ok? Do you view it like that at all...and if not, what is your opinion?:)
Jennifer 01-21-2007, 09:56 AM I think it's pathetic. Stars get away with so much ebcause of their name and their money...I think it should be the same penalty no matter what!

Exactly!! Beeing that I am going trhough a situation with my 18 year old nephew...I know what his consequences are for what he has done. But it really grates my last nerve for someone who is always in the public eye to break the law and suffer the consequences of their actions:no ...it's pathetic

I think hollywood is responsible for a lot of the problems that are becoming more prevalent in today's society. They get off with nothing more than a handslap and a few thousand in fines, and everything goes on as normal. Rarely do celebs actually do jail time...they usually go to some cushy "rehad" facility and get on the wagon for the minimal amount of time possible.....It's time for hollywood to take responsibility. They want to be just likee normal people? Then it's time to be punished and be held to laws like normal people are forced to acknowledge.
judyb 01-21-2007, 10:10 AM Yep!! And if your teenager can drive drunk and lose their license for a year, then by god...a 16 year old star and rolling in the dough person should get the same thing. Kids who are 10, 11, 12 are very impressionable...and granted many parents are quick to teach their kids that this not acceptable behavior and this is what happens if you do it...there are just as many parents who don't.
i think just because they are a star doesnt mean that they should get off easier. I think the same punishments should apply as they do with non stars. It makes me mad to see celebrities getting off easy like that when that wouldnt happen with your everyday average person. I have less respect for the celebrities when they do stuff like that.

I couldn't agree more with this. It's just not fair. It's to the point where some kids look up to some of these morons as role models, and probably figure, well if they get off that easy, it's no problem, so the same thing will happen to me if I do it too. WRONG!!! It's as though these celebrities have money, so the authorities just push everything under the rug, and then act like nothing happened. It's just pure insanity.
'Reen 01-25-2007, 10:31 PM it really does seem like hollywood minimizes and ignores alot of inappropriate behaviors.
Megan 01-25-2007, 10:55 PM I don't think it's right that they get away with just a slap on the wrist. I know if I pulled HALF the crap Lindsey has pulled this last year, I'd be punished hardcore. Juvi, community service, liscensed revoked etc. Also I really hope she is no longer under contract with Disney. Her movies appeal to young audiences, pre-teens and young children. They see her on US Weekly and STAR in line with mom at Wal*Mart and they think "Hey if Lindsey Lohan thinks it's cool, so I do too" Now you find your 13 year old walking around in dresses with no panties, whoring around and partying like their 25. I know because it happens ALL THE TIME! It's crap that they don't get serious punishment.
I walk alone 01-26-2007, 12:43 PM Double standard!
Double standard!
:agree Total double standard. It makes me so mad to see these people getting away with things just because they are famous or have money.
Marybeth 02-04-2007, 06:46 AM I agree with all of you ladies. And when I heard about it I was also wondering why bartenders are serving her? The whole world knows she's underage!
Surf2be 02-04-2007, 09:53 AM I pretty much abhor celebities for this reason. I like to watch them in movies, but that is it...I can't stand to hear anything about their personal lives because it just makes me sick to my stomach how stupid and shallow they are and how they get such special treatment from our justice system. They certainly, of all humanity, do not deserve it.
What really makes me sick is how much money they spend on stupid material things, like $50,000 on a purse, or a one million dollar engagement ring. Makes me crazy when I hear stuff like that. These people live in bubble that is sucking their brain cells. Seriously.

i agree. its bull sh*t what they get away with.
JoeysGurl 02-04-2007, 12:40 PM I agree with everyone. They should be treated just like everyone else they arent special.
