View Full Version : lil update on me...
'Reen 03-24-2008, 12:11 PM so... just a lil update for anyone that's interested. i went back to the doc last week and she said that with where my tests are, we can't start my ET (experimental treatment) for about 6 weeks. :sigh i'm a little disappointed, but i know that it's for the best. on the upside, she said that we'll be able to do the egg harvesting for IVF later this week! :woot i'm really happy about that, because we were worried that there was too much damage to my ovaries for us to be able to get eggs for IVF.
anyway... it's still a long road ahead of us, and will be more than a year until we can try implantation. the more i think about it, the more i realize that's probably a good thing. i'm not ready to risk the heartache of losing another baby yet. the hormones and everything is making me feel all out of sorts, but i'm getting used to it, slowly... lol
Shannon 03-24-2008, 12:18 PM So you're planning to go ahead and start a family in the immediate future anyway? Or is the egg harvesting just going to be something to you can have on ice for years to come?

we aren't sure when we want to start a family, but even with the best case scenarios, it could be 3-5 years before we can try again. we want to get the ball rolling so that we have ample time to try. we also know we can't concieve naturally, so we'll be doing IVF. we decided to the egg harvesting now because the ET could adversely affect my ovaries and eggs. once they're harvested, we'll have them "on ice" for as long as necessary.

Shannon 03-25-2008, 02:02 PM I don't know if this is too personal and stuff, but do you have any links as to what happened to your insides? Like medical articles or whatever so that I understand what you're dealing with or facing? I'm honestly not at all familiar with what happened to you and/or how you were damaged as a result. :)
'Reen 03-25-2008, 02:51 PM i'll see what i can find for you Shannon. my "offical diagnosis" is a severe form of Asherman's syndrome. It can cause scarring of the uterine walls and the tubes. that's not a complete diagnosis, but it's the closest thing they have. there are other complications... but they haven't totally figured it out yet. :yes
i'll see what i can find though. and if its too personal, i'll tell you.
Shannon 03-25-2008, 03:08 PM Wow, so I was reading up on that. Basically anything that can scar the uterus can result in this, and there is no real way of predicting if it will happen or not? I was reading how D&Cs are extremely common and that done perfectly correct and safely can result in that. Even births can result in AS. That is seriously scary! It looked like there was a look of promise in being able to conceive and have a baby again, however, even possible in severe cases. So that's good!
'Reen 03-25-2008, 07:02 PM Shannon, the good thing is that it's becoming less and less common. unfortunately, i had uterine trauma as a result of another injury, so when this happened, it left severe scarring in it's wake. the problems that we are having come not so much from the AS but from some other complications that have arisen. we're not sure what the extent or the diagnosis of the complications are. i feel all upside down and confused sometimes, because we have a diagnosis and a treatment plan, but they still don't know the full extent. :gaah
yea...there is definitely promise of conception and full term pregnancy in most cases, but due to some other complications, we'll have a much harder time. :yes they're running tests now to determine what other issues are involved and the ET won't start til they're sure.
kahana23 03-25-2008, 07:58 PM :hugehug
