I think our Oreck is finally about to kick the bucket. We've had it for about five years and it's treated us very well during this time, but it is starting to pretty much fall apart.

So, I'd like your opinions and advice on vacuums. Which have you tried? Which have you loved? Hated?

I think we're going to need a new one sometime really soon b/c it's not even picking up the dog hair that well, so I know the dirt and other junk is accumulating. :insomnia

i absolutely LOVE my Dyson!!! Nothing better hands down!

We have a Bissell and I love it. It is probably a lighter duty vacuum I would say though, we don't have animals or anything, just typical crumbs and dust. It picks up great, but with all the filters, I think serious dog hair and the like would make it a PITA to clean all the time.

Aren't Dyson's like $500? :faint We already spent like $1500 on a Kirby, which we HATED with a freaking passion... it cleaned well but almost sent me into labor a few times b/c it was SO heavy (seriously, like 50 lbs!). Not sure if I"m ready to spend that much on another vacuum again after spending $400 on my Oreck. Ugh. I don't know. I have heard good things about the Dysons, I kind of wish I could find one on sale somewhere.
