I grew up with an evil stepmom so I knew It was in my cards to be a stepmom one day. My step son is great. He is 5 and I've pretyt much known him since he was about 6 months old, he came to live with us When he was 2. His mom is of an alternative lifestyle and decided she would rather pursue her career as a drag king than be a part of her little boys life, she bailed and moved accross the country. He used to call me by my name, but has been calling me mom for about a year now, since he hasnt seen his real mother since dec 06. DH and I have a 2 yr old together and they are eachothers best friends. I feel bad sometimes that we don't have baby pictures of him, or baby scrapbooks for him like I do for my duaghter, but I hope he'll understand when he gets older. here it is may and she hasn't even called since February. Anyway, Im glad there is a stepmom section, I know I can always use the extra advice and help :)

I'm a stepmother also. We just recently got to see the kids for the first time in three years. They are 8 and 10. Boy and Girl. I didn't know how they would think. At first they didn't want to come around and now they don't want to go back home. How can anyone handle that? When the kids don't want to go back to their mother's house? Pretty scary on what she does at home. But honestly there is nothing we can do about it right now right? Any help is great:)
