Since the semester is at an end I'm trying to decide the best way to get the most out of my textbooks. Do you buy and sell from the bookstore? Do you use an online auction/sales site such as ebay, amazon or half.com? If you buy/sell online which site do you prefer?

I'm a book pessimist.

I just sell them back from the book store at whatever crumby price they give me..

When I buy books though I try to buy them on half.com first, and if I can't find them or find them at a better price than the bookstore I just get them used from the book store.

I'm so mad, I got $25.00 back for my book today and I lost $10.00 .. I think it flew out of my wallet or something :(.

um, yeah. When I was in college I bought what I could on half.com and the rest at the bookstore, but I was pissed at the end of the semester when I tried to sell my books back to the bookstore and they would only give me like 1/4 of what I spent on them! So, I decided that it was more worth it to try to sell them on half.com and chance them not selling than it was to sell them back for chump change! ex: I spent $150 on a book one semester at the bookstore and they were only willing to give me $20 back at the end of the semester! The book was in perfect condition, I didn't even really use it all semester! I ended up keeping it and selling it on half.com for $100, I mean, when you spend that much on a book it's more worth it to keep it than to sell it back for so little!

I usually just sell them back to the bookstore. I could probably get more for them online, but by the end of the semester I'm always like, "good riddance book!" and want to get rid of it as soon as I can.

I'm also lazy!

I always sell on Half.com. It's so much easier to list your books and find the right ones, you have seller protection, and you don't get charged anything by the site until you sell. Me love Half.com ;)

I buy all of my books from barnes and noble, new, then I sell them back to the bookstore if they will take them for that instant cash action :lol

the ones they don't take, I sell on half.

It depends. If I bought my books online at places like half.com and ebay.com and saved a bunch on them, then I'll sell them to the bookstore since I know I'll get top dollar. but if I bought them at the book store, I will only sell them back to the bookstore if I'll get a good amount, otherwise I sell them to half.com and ebay.com

Thanks girls I think I might try Half.com in the future. I'm getting tired of the bookstore not taking books that I've spent a pretty penny on.
