After DF and I are married and have our home set up we would like to adopt a child, I have been doing some internet research, but there is so much out there. I have no idea even where to start? Help ladies?

Thank you

First step would be deciding what kind of child you're wanting (a baby, an older child, a child of a different nationality or race)

Once you decide which type of child you'd like, then you just do research on adoption methods (such as private adoption, foster to adopt, international adoption, etc)

If you want a baby from the US straight from the hospital, then you'll want to look into private adoption agencies. They are really expensive but if it's a baby you want, that's the best way to go.

If you want a child from the US but don't care about age, your best bet is to adopt through the state foster system. There are thousands of kids whose parents severed their parental rights and a lot more who are in limbo between family reunification and adoption.

If you want to adopt internationally, you'll want to find a number of websites and decide on a program or agency that's right for you.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me! DH and I are currently adopting through the foster care system!

Honestly...I would tell you look into foster-adoption. There are SO many kids in Iowa that need homes. I know it's everyone's choice to have a brand-new baby, but my heart just breaks for these kids.

Also there is a website that helps you get grants, and you also need to go a head and get a house inspection. Pm me if you need help getting information about that in your state.
