How do you make the most of your money when planning meals?
When you get down to the end of the pay period and money is tight, do you have any low cost meals?
Which meals are easiest to stretch to feed a big family without spending a fortune?
Do you have any tips or ideas for food on a budget?

I eat lots of potatoes and pasta because they are cheap. I stock up on meat and chicken when it is on sale. and I love coupons!

I buy lots of Top Ramen and use those noodles for EVERYTHING!!! It's 14 cents a package at the commy so its easy to stock up on it!

We have lots of tater tot casseroles, spaghetti, tacos, and mainly hamburger is the main meat we use. We have tried to get away from that though because dh wants to eat more healthy.

I make up meals actually. We have had some really wierd things together.

We buy hamburger, and chicken at Costco once a month. We break it all up into meal bags. 1LB of hamburger meat per bag, and chicken legs, thighs and breasts in a bag. We usually have hamburger helper, spaghetti and chicken at least once a week. Lots of hamburgers, and we do pizza once a week. There are 7 of us. We make it work.

I'll make a lot of casseroles or pasta dishes that will be enough for a couple of days. Soup and sandwichs is always a great stand by too.
