Will your insurance pay for any of it?
I hate that so many insurances won't pay for this or a good part of it but will be glad to pay for OB care when your pregnant. This is the only way some people can achieve their miracle and I think that everyone deserves that.
We have Blue Cross/Blue Shield through the state of FL where Josh works and they will NOT pay for any of it. I was looking and it said paid for some "fertility" treatments but to see the exclusions list and I looked and sure enough the 1st thing on the list was IVF. I told DH that if we are told that is our only way to have a baby we are going to be sooo screwed :( We couldn't pay for it out of pocket and if we could get a loan we would have to implant as many embyros as we could due to it being our only shot and then we could still end up with no baby or 5! I pray that we don't have to do that route....

My insurance WILL cover some of the costs of IVF- there is a cap, but of course its better than nothing! My company also will re-imburse some of the money for adoption ($5000 per child).

When I had blue cross blue shield a very long time ago, they would cover up to 10K of it. I know most insurances won't cover it though, I just had a really good insurance plan.
I still think ya'll have plenty of time to try though. I had six miscarriages before being able to continue on with our family. I'm sure they'll try many other methods for you that are less expensive and not as invasive. Besides, with IVF, that's not going to solve any issues you're having with the later miscarriages. IVF is typically used for people who can't get pregnant to begin with. I think they'd try medication such as progesterone suppositories or even progesterone injectable oil to see if it's some sort of hormone imbalance going on, causing you to miscarry.

Mine won't but my Dr. let me in on a little secret that I'm willing to share! There are foundations out there that give grants to qualifying couples for IVF! The specific one she told me about is called the Miracle Foundation, I don't know if it's just for Utah couples or if it's nation wide. If you're income and situation qualify they will pay $8,000 of the IVF cost for you! IF IVF is the way we have to go we will definitely apply for this and hope we get the help we need.

I have Kaiser Permanente through work and they will pay for 50% of IVF costs. I didn't think that was a lot until I started talking with other friends and family members and found out most insurance companies won't even cover that much.
They also pay 100% for your babies doctors visits until they are 2 years old and all prenatal visits which I didn't even know about until recently. That will save me a bundle when I finally get knocked up.
My Dr thinks getting the PCOS under control will help us and she said she doesn't mind putting me on progesterone through my 1st trimester but that wouldn't have caused me to miscarry after 12 weeks since I would ahve already stopped the progesterone by then. So, that I guess will always be a mystery since all my auto immune labs came back normal and my thyroid is still in remission. So, just the PCOS hormone issue is all they can find. I can't go through too many more miscarriages... 2 was hard enough. I will just say enough is enough if it keeps happeneing. Someone can only take so much I guess :(

Cori, it would be worth requesting more bloodwork. I know some of ym friends actually did progesterone shots until 27 weeks or so

That's so not true. Most doctors will keep you on progesterone for far longer than 12 weeks. SOME will wean you off at 12 weeks, but 12 weeks is just BORDERLINE when the placenta starts to take over. SO, most doctors encourage people to wait until closer to 16 + weeks before allowing you to wean off. Also, I know of a lot of people who continued on progesterone for their entire pregnancy to prevent "preterm labor" which would also basically be "miscarriage" before baby is viable on it's own. So, I wouldn't discredit it just yet. Progesterone is far more important than you might think.
All I'm saying is that I don't think having IVF done would solve any of the miscarriage problems, as IVF tends to be more for people who can not get pregnant, not people who can get pregnant but can not carry to term. IVF will get you pregnant but it won't keep you pregnant, KWIM?
They really need to continue full panels of blood work to get to the bottom of what's going on. During the course of my miscarriages, I did a LOT of research. I went through SIX miscarriages, two of those were into my second trimester and another one was at 9 weeks. So, my case was extremely confusing for most doctors. I heard everything from it being a chromosome issue to hormone issues to possible even some type of infection somewhere in my body (they said it can be as small as unhealthy gums!). Finally, I got in with a doctor who prescribed me progesterone b/c she was convinced that even though mine wasn't "low", it wouldn't hurt to at least take that preventative measure since it's such an easy medication to prescribe and take.
Low and behold, after all of those miscarriage, including the two that were in my second trimester, I have carried three more babies just fine with NO other micarriages.
So, I say it's worth a shot. It can't hurt, it's a lot cheaper than most other things, and I think any doctor who totally skips the idea of it just b/c they don't "think" that's what's wrong is a fool.
All of my blood work came back normal, we even had blood tests and such run on one of the festuses that I delivered in my toilet at home and brought into the emergency room. Everything looked fine with both of us.
Yet, progesterone seemed to be a fix for whatever was going on. I'm a HUGE advocate for it. Huge.
Yea, I asked her about the Progesterone because I remember how much it helped with you. She ran a huge panel of BW on be including Lupus something or other and blood clotting disorders but she said she everything was okay. She said my Progesterone was low even when I ovulated so she would put me on it but still said just through 12 weeks when the placenta took over so I wouldn't know how to make her give me more. I remember when I got my BETA and P4 done when I got pregnant with Skylar I thought my progesterone was very low but the nurse said oh not it was fine but at 4 weeks it was just 13.5 which is lower than they like to see it after ovulation on a Clomid cycle. She told me since my old OB did not test the fetus and all the miscarriage panel came back normal other than PCOS should could not tell me much of anything else. She said insurance will not cover a chromosome testing unless I had 3 or more loses which she said is horrible but can't do anything about it and it would be up in the thousands for the lab works. She said losing the baby at 14 weeks without a auto immune disorder that could be detected was most likely an issue with the baby that could not have been helped and the 1st m/c was right after I got dx with PCOS and she said she would guarentee that was from a late/bad ovulation since I ovulated like 80+days after my last period. She did put me on a baby aspirin a day which she said has been found to help any with auto immune issues that may be underlying or not bad enough to detect. She said that Met plus Aspirin have bene known to reduce m/c rates in PCOS woman.
Right now Im just waiting it all out since I have to see if Im pregnant or AF shows up next week if I really did ovualte like the tests said. Then she wants me on Clomid and the Met and Baby Aspirin and the progesteron when I find out Im pregnant. Uggg so complicated! I wish somedays I was able to get pregnant and enjoy it like most people without all this complications. I wont be able to enjoy it anyways with fear of miscarring, but we want to try again at least once more.

Cori, once you get close to the 12 week mark, you can always ask for a recheck of the levels and to start weaning down until 16 weeks or more,
Thanks Jen I will do that if/when we get to that point :hugs
